I must add before I write this article that I was somewhat late to the smartphone game, perhaps its a generational thing. Having said this, since I bought my first smartphone, I am now fully converted to just how beneficial these smart pieces of equipment can be, especially for busy mommas!
The battle which seems to take place in the world of smartphones is whether to opt for a Samsung such as a Galaxy, or go for the Apple iPhone. I have had both in the last few years and I wanted to talk a little about my experience with each one, from the point of view of a mom.
Battery Life
I am on the go so much that I really can’t afford to have a battery die on me every couple of hours and so I needed a phone which could keep up with what I wanted to do, and ensure that there was still enough power left to get me through the day. In this category, the Samsung wins all day long, the battery seemed to last forever and I only ever charged it at night, I wish I could say the same for the iPhone.
Ease of Use
As someone who is a complete technophobe, I needed a phone which was super easy to use and between the two, it was the iPhone which won for me. I am not saying that the Samsung is confusing to use, for most people at least, because it is not, but I always managed to work out what I was doing far easier on the iPhone than on the Samsung.
Linking Up
The way in which Apple links up accounts for iPads, Macs and iPhones is absolutely exceptional and this was one of the biggest benefits for me. We already had an iPad in the house and my little girl uses a Macbook to work and browse. Because we already had these pieces of kit, having an iPhone made the most sense to me and we could easily swap files, photos and documents between devices with ease. Samsung does have something similar to this, but it didn’t come close to working as well as the iPhone did.
Fit
Although the Samsung Galaxy is larger than the iPhone, I actually really loved the way that it looked, and the way that it felt in my hand. I was determined not to become one of those people with a monstrously large cellphone to their ear and I think that the size of the Samsung was probably just about my limit. In terms of fashion accessories and looking cool, the Samsung gets my over the chunky iPhone. apple have some new designs with their new iPhones which may look better, but so far, it is Samsung who win this category.
Conclusion
In truth, both phones work very well for whatever a mom may want to do, in my view however, I would recommend the Samsung. The Samsung phones look great, work well, last for a long time between charges and most importantly, they are easy to navigate around.
