I spend a lot of time in hotels across the US and, as I’m sure you are aware, most of them have casinos either inside the hotel, or not too far away. I really enjoy spending some downtime when I am away on business, sitting in the casinos, trying to make a little bit of extra change. Something which I love to see in the casinos, are first timers, coming in with wide eyes and confused looks as they try to enjoy themselves. unfortunately, I speak to many who can’t enjoy themselves because they are over-awed by the occasion and so I wanted to write a little guide with some tips for first time casino goers.
Pre-Casino Research
To avoid being over-awed by the occasion when you get into the casino, try doing some research before you go on the various games and tables which there are, this should help make you feel more comfortable. Remember that you are not supposed to be an expert in gambling to enjoy yourself in a casino, start off slowly and remember that practice makes perfect. Watch some videos and read the rules of various games to make you feel that little bit more at ease when you get to the casino.
Quiet Tables
Croupiers can really help you to understand various games, how to gamble and how to go about things. In order to get this kind of help from a croupier, you must try to find quiet tables which will allow them the time to chat with you. If you go to a table which is full of gamblers, the croupier won’t have the time to spend with you.
Money Decision
You really need to have your head screwed on in terms of how much money you plan to spend inside the casino. As much as we would all love to win big, the chances are more likely that you’ll either break even, win a little or lose a little, as long as you are smart of course. The best way to make this kind of decision is to first think about how much you can afford to lose, or how much you’ll feel comfortable losing. Once you have this figure in your head, let’s say $150, you shouldn’t take any more than that into the casino with you as if you lose it, it will be very easy to keep gambling to chase the money, and that is when people run into difficulties.
Get Out When You Can
The final rule that I would give first time gamblers in a casino is to make a decision about when you plan to leave, and stick to it. Whether you are on a bad run or a great run, walking out of the casino is one of the most difficult things to do. The best thing that I can suggest here is to put a time limit on it, walk in at 7pm with your $150, enjoy your time, gamble some money and then walk out at 9pm, regardless of whether you are up or down.
