The world of betting has been completely transformed by the digital age and if you have the right approach, punters have a far greater chance of winning as a result. I have been gambling on the side of my real job for many years now, and I have a system which I think has served me incredibly well. The basic premise of my system is to cut out the risks which many people take, doing so by simply betting on the most likely outcome.
I very often see people with these huge 10 team accumulators or a 5-fold on the horses which promise huge pay outs, but for me this makes little sense and here is why I think betting on the favorites make sense.
Marathon Not a Sprint
Some people seem to gamble as though they are going to die tomorrow but the truth is that if you look at this long term rather than short, you can actually make more money if you risk less. Let’s say you place £5 per week on a longshot acca, that is £260 per year, with little hope of actually winning. If however your were to place £5 per week on a favourite of let’s say 2/1, not a rarity in football, you will still be betting £260 in the year, but you could well have bumped your winnings up to £460, do this year on year, perhaps with bigger stakes, and you’ll win money far more often.
Favourites For A Reason
Of course, throughout the sporting world we see favourites coming up short or getting beat, but not very often. In some instances, the favourite tag may mean very little, Grand National Betting Favourites for example are extremely hard to pick given that there are 40 horses in the race. To avoid this type of favourite, simply use your form guide and some common sense, more often than not however, favourites are the ones who win.
Accumulator Success
I am not entirely discouraging accas, just suggesting that those with huge odds make no sense. Sometimes a nailed on favourite may have odds so low that they aren’t worth betting on, in this case, turn it into a favourite acca. Most weekends I will place around £30 on a treble featuring favourites and more often than not I count on profit of at least £15 per bet. I am all about building up the cash pot and with these kind of bets on the favourites, you can do just that.
Stop taking risks and looking for the big payout, get on the favourites instead!
